Installation
- Place ProStrainer in its installation position and examine the spacing.
- Make sure the flow direction is correct. Fluid should enter the influent end of the strainer. This is the end in which the internal baskets have no screening material.
- Install a non-corrosive properly rated vacuum breaker on the ½ FMPT half coupling at the influent end.
- Install a PVC winterizing and drain assembly at the lowest portion of the influent bulkhead. Use a 1” PVC ball valve. Make sure this assembly is easily accessible and the discharge end of the drain valve is directed to the proper draining location.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: ProStrianerTM compact models have a total of 3” of face piping on the influent and effluent. If the isolation valves are to be attached directly to the ProStrainer only use a gate style isolation valves if this type strainer was specified. Butterfly valves need to be positioned far enough away from the face piping so the butterfly portion of the valve can achieve a full open position and there is no interference with the handle when opening the lid and the valves are in the closed position.
- Use standard bolt and torque patterns recommended for PVC flange connections. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN FLANGES. If leaking appears at startup carefully snug the flanges until leak subsides. Check gaskets for proper fit or damage.
- After ProStrainer is installed remove vinyl protecting cover film from all locations and lid assembly.
